LEARN ABOUT LEGENDARY LADIES!

Overcoming personal hardships, seven Legendary Ladies became part of the lore of the West. Portrayed by members of the Legendary Ladies non-profit educational women’s performance organization, you’ll meet Mother Jones, Emily Griffith, Mother Cabrini, Rosamond Underwood, Captain Jack, Helen Hunt Jackson and Prairie Rose Henderson. Learn which pioneering lady advocated for Native Americans; mining safety; education; and traveled alone without “fear of man or devil.” Come enjoy a fun afternoon and meet these unconventional spirits who became part of the lore of the West on Saturday, April 11 at 1 PM at Hiwan Homestead Museum, 4208 S. Timbervale Dr., Evergreen CO 80439.

The Legendary Ladies program will be held at the Timbervale Barn, adjacent to Hiwan Homestead Museum. This program is sponsored by the Jefferson County Historical Society; there is a fee of $10 per person. Please call the Museum at 720-497-7650 to reserve your spot!

ANTIQUES GROVE SHOW

Hiwan Homestead Museum

Saturday, June 27, from 10 AM to 4 PM

Do you have some family heirlooms that have been stashed away for years? What are they worth? Jefferson County Historical Society has arranged for professional antiques experts to evaluate your antiques and give verbal appraisals. The appraisers have a wide range of expertise including paintings, prints, Native American artifacts, glassware, books, toys, collectibles and more. Special guest Sandy Cooper from Evergreen’s Silver Arrow will evaluate vintage Indian jewelry. So clean out those attics and basements and see just how valuable some of your “junk” may be! The appraisal will be held at Hiwan Homestead Museum on Saturday, June 27, from 10 AM to 4 PM. The fee for each item appraised is $5 cash with a limit of 5 items per person. All proceeds from the appraisal will benefit Hiwan Homestead Museum’s programs and activities sponsored by JCHS. The museum will be open for guided tours during the appraisal. Pre-registration for the appraisals is encouraged. To pre-register call 303-233-5351. No furniture, firearms, gold or precious stones, please.
