Art and Survival: Navajo Weaving and Stories

Master Weaver Lynda Pete shares historical perspective and personal stories about how the 1863-1868 forced  relocation to Bosque Redondo, a reservation at Fort Sumner in New Mexico, impacted the lives and art of the Navajo people. Her presentation will include photos and a weaving demonstration. 14th Annual History Preservation Symposium Landscape Shapes History Saturday May 13, 2017 (9am - 2pm) Timbervale Barn 4132 Timbervale Drive. Evergreen, CO 80439 (adjacent to Hiwan Museum) Located at the rugged interface between mountain and plain, Jeffco's landscape continuously shapes our county's story. The symposium highlights the connection between Jeffco's natural topography and our rich human history. 8:30am  - 9:00am Check-in/Breakfast 9am - Noon Speakers and Panel Discussion Noon - 1pm  Lunch 1:00 - 2:00pm Hiwan Museum Tour Topics will include local geology, palenontology, agriculture and architecture.
